Accelerated modern human–induced species losses: Entering the sixth mass extinction  　在這邊主要要跟各位提到，所有的主軸都來自於：有許多研究顯示，地球上正要面臨史上第六次物種滅絕。

If the currently elevated extinction pace is allowed to continue, humans will soon (in as little as three human lifetimes) be deprived of many biodiversity benefits. On human time scales, this loss would be effectively permanent because in the aftermath of past mass extinctions, the living world took hundreds of thousands to millions of years to rediversify. Avoiding a true sixth mass extinction will require rapid, greatly intensified efforts to conserve already threatened species and to alleviate pressures on their populations—notably habitat loss, overexploitation for economic gain, and climate change (31–33). All of these are related to human population size and growth, which increases consumption (especially among the rich), and economic inequity (6). However, the window of opportunity is rapidly closing.

　　這並不是隨便講講，這份研究來自有諾貝爾桂冠加持的墨西哥國立自治大學、美國史丹佛大學、柏克萊大學、普林斯頓大學、佛羅里達大學等，很多很重要的科學機構他們的共同研究報告，刊登在《Science Advances》2015年6月19日期刊上。他們研究百年來脊椎動物死亡速度比過去要快上114倍，研究同時指出自從1900年開始，正常速度下這百年來滅絕的物種應該只有九種，但在過去這段時間卻發現 447 種物種已滅絕，本來這些應該耗費一萬年，但是他們滅絕的非常快速，以至於生物多樣性正以極端的速度流失，代表第六次大滅絕已經正在發生。（文章連結：史丹佛大學驚人研究，地球史上第六次物種滅絕已敲響鐘） 繼續閱讀 →
